This stunning blue, red, & white cotton dupatta handwoven in the Telia Rumal tradition is representative of the craft form also known as Telia Patti or Telia Handloom.
The Ikat weave of this delicately handcrafted cotton dupatta for women combines the beauty of tradition and its ability to adapt and lend itself to the most modern renditions.
Our earliest visual reference to the Ikat comes from the murals of the Ajanta caves, which go back 1,200-1,600 years. The Ikat is a unique weave, where the threads of the warp or the weft are patiently tied and then dyed multiple times, depending on the number of colours used. It is believed that this form of weaving travelled across the world from India.
The distinctive feature of Peepultree clothing is the involvement of hand processes at every stage in the making. There may be tinting on skin and/or lighter shade garment being paired together due to the dyeing processes used. The excess dye gets washed out in the first 2-3 washes.
Note: The product's actual colours may slightly differ from what you see in the images due to variations in computer screen resolutions, displays, and photography.
